The plants gave us teaser quantities of Goji berries while they were in the pots as seen the pictures above. Finally, we got around to transplanting the Goji Berry plants into the ground about a month ago.
It took the plants a little while to adjust to being in the ground. We had to increase the number of drip heads to provide adequate water before it started to take off. Soon the plants started flowering despite the scorching heat wave we had been having or maybe the plants loved the heat!
We found had planted white and purple flowering variety of Goji Berries. At present, we do not know if the color of the flowers have any bearing on the fruits so we will be observing this aspect. The flowers do not look entirely alike too.
The Goji Berry flowers individually versus in bunches, along the branch.
Unfortunately so far, the fruits do not ripen at the same time so we only get mouthfuls of fruits at the time.
The fruits are bigger, redder and plumper than those we got when the plants were in the pots.
The Goji berry plants have taken off and grow taller than the supports we tied them to. (In background husband planting and running irrigation lines to the blueberry plants we put in last weekend.)
Frasier is the designated Goji berry watchdog.
Ooo, fresh goji! The purple flowers looks prettier than the white. I tried planting goji through cuttings here, but they don't do very well.
ReplyDeleteOMG! this is really a nice post. I just love your blog. Goji berry is really a super food everyone should know the benefit of this fruit. Goji berries also increase a persons energy and strength, and this is why goji juice is the perfect drink if you are athletic
